Default bows to shirts

Alright, the other day I saw an adorable shirt made for father's day and the mommy attached bows to the sides of the tank top straps....someone asked her about washing it with permanent bows...the mommy said she didn't know or think about that...

so my question is, how do you attach cute bows to a tank top that is able to be washed later?

most of the time bows will was fine.

best thing to do is prewash your ribbon first... cut your strips to size, heat seal the ends, an wash in a mesh bag. assemble bows as usual hot glue an all. the shirt should only be washed in cold water on delicate preferably in a mesh bag too, an hung/laid flat to dry, NO DRYER.

hope that helps

I make the bows attached to safety pins instead of to clips. You can pin htem on and take them off. Easy cheesy!!!

I think grosgrain ribbon would be fine. I have had shirts for my dd from Gymboree with ribbon that wash just fine. I just hung them to dry.

My daughter has a romper that has attached grosgrain bows and it goes through the washer and dryer just fine. I do wash and dry it on delicate though.

I've used alligator clips as well, since they can be used for the hair or the shirt.

I've seen people say they use snaps to attach the bows to shirts so they are removable-just another suggestion, I've never tried it.

I used American Craft ribbons to make bow shirts for DD, I washed and tossed them in the dryer (What can I say, I am lazy). The bows came out of the dryer just fine.
