Default plz help with satin rolled rosette

I've been trying to find out how to make rolled rosettes like this for a while. I can make the regular rolled flowers and the folded rose, but not like these where they seem more folded. (if that makes any sense) http://www.etsy.com/listing/11196413...earch_type=all

Today I found 2 tutorials for them, but I feel like some steps are missing (or maybe I'm just missing them, lol) Here are the links. I'll let you know ahead of time that there is an annoying pop up sort of thing, on the blog it eventually went away. The Korean site it didn't but I didn't click on and X or anything either. Here are links to the tuts:

The Korean site I got from the blog, but even looking at both, I'm still not sure which way to fold what. Plus I really want to use fabri-tac glue instead of sewing. (much easier on my hands!)

Any ideas?

I can only open the Etsy link from here (so I can't see the tuts you linked), but you fold inwards instead of outwards - does that make sense/help? You just need to experiment with the width of fabric and the length of the fold (distance between folds) if that makes sense.

Thanks! It should make sense, but when I've been making other rolled/folded flowers, I think I was folding them inward... Maybe I don't really know what I am doing afterall. lol I roll a little for the inner part from my right hand toward my left. Then when I make the other flowers, I was using my left hand and bending the fabric/ribbon down toward me as I went, and rolling the part in my right hand toward the left, then repeating. I secure it a little as I go with fabri-tac glue. Am I doing things backwards maybe?

As far as the other tutorial links, if you go to meijosjoy.blogspot.com & then click on the tutorials, its the one that also says its a walnut rose.

Thanks again tho!!!

I have a tutorial in my Etsy shop. It's glued not sewn...not exactly like the pic, but similar. I also have some sample pics in my album.

The tutorial comes with some videos to help.

My etsy shop is in my signature.

My "Free" advice is, when you are learning to do rosettes start by doing them in Cotton or something less "Slippery" than satin. Sometimes Satin is hard to hold onto....even though it's prettier, while you're getting the technique down use something else.

Good Luck!

Yours are pretty close. Definitely way closer than anything I've been able to accomplish. Thank you also for the free advice about using cotton or something not slippery to practice. I think that is actually great advice! The satin can be a bit of a bugger. I'll have to give some serious thought to just how badly I "need" to learn how to make these. I'm only doing them because I think they are pretty and would like to be able to make them, I don't sell stuff, so I'll have to weigh that against all the other stuff I "need". Thanks for the advice and the link tho!!!

Here's a tutorial: http://www.redpoppyquilts.com/2011/0...-tutorial.html

Like a previous post said, fold inward toward the center of the rose.

The ones in the Etsy listing are a little different from the one in the free tute - I've seen how to make these in books on ribbonwork that you can check out from the library. Helen Gibb's books are good! http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/307197.Ribbonwork
