Default Bottle Cap came off of customers bow!

I feel so bad, I just started the business and a customer called and said her bottle cap came off of her bow. She was not upset or anything. She lives out of town, so I said I will just make her a new bow. I hot glue the bottle cap on. Did I not put enough on for the metal to stick to the ribbon? What do you all do?? Help!

I don't do bottle caps, but I would think a specialty glue for metal or something like E6000 would hold better than hot glue. Hot glue just seems to peel to easily from metal surfaces.

I agree with Wendy. I read on this forum that when attaching an embellishment or bottle cap, E6000 works best! I had a resin embellishment fall off a bow ( I had used hot glue) & when I reattached it, i used E6000. It hasn't came off since. I redid it a month or so ago. My daughter has put that bow thru the ringer, it's her favorite, so I know it works

I am paranoid about them falling off so I always use E6000 on bottlecaps, resins and rhinestone buttons. Another plus to E6000 is that heat doesn't affect it. If your customer left the bow in her car the heat could have soften the hot glue.

E6000 definately. However, I have found out that the E6000 distorts the backing on the plastic crystal looking gems that Hobby Lobby sells (they come in a small tub in either assorted colors or clear), but I have never had any problems with bottle caps or flat back buttons.

Especially in this humidity, hot glue won't work. E6000 takes a while to dry, but doesn't fail.
