Default Printing your own ribbon

Does anyone have any tips on how to get this to come out right? For people who have successfully done it with the iron on transfer paper what brand did you use? I tried avery and some off brand from Michaels and it didn't work either time. No matter how long I held the iron down on the avery paper it wouldn't stick to the ribbon. The off-brand melted and turned yellowish and weird in some of the white areas.
I want to try printing directly onto the ribbon by sticking it to paper w/ double sided tape but I bought a few print your own ribbon graphics..does anyone know how I can use the premade graphic sheets to print directly onto the ribbon without having to cut it all into 10 inch sections and taping it to the paper? Is there a way to do it as a continuous length or no?
