Default Infant Hat from Crochet Headband material?

How wide would the material (cannot think of what you call it) need to be to make an infant hat with just one color? I know there is a tutorial to make one different colors, but I saw a picture on a friends FB page today and it was just one color...I just want one for the baby.

Does anyone know where I can get one or have one to sell? Or even where I can buy some if I need to make myself? All I can get local is the inch and a half I think it is....

Thanks in advance!!

I think they are made with the 7" headbands used to make tutu dresses...not sure though but I think I read it somewhere long time ago and with them you just have to gather them on the top and that is it

Where do you get the wider sizes? I can see 5" working for what I want, I would think. I doubt I will have her wear them much past the hospital so I just want one or two...LOL.
