You have no idea how stressful it was. I was still panicked until I confirmed that FedEx had indeed picked it up from where they had dropped it off.

Anyone know where to get the blank bases cheap? I bought some from a seller on eBay that had the epoxy stickers.. not too happy with the epoxy stickers but also don't want to pay $1.10 for each base especially when I'm not selling these for that much. Cheapest I found was ordering 1000 units and I don't want that many.. anyone on here sell them?

Please PM me or email [email protected]

I know this is a pretty old thread BUT my daughter who is recovering from a head injury wants to do these. I've ordered the cord and blank charms and even already made images. WE have to print them ourselves and I need to know what to print them on (type of paper). Also, I was reading that the epoxy stickers it comes with doesn't hold good. What else do I need to buy her? Thanks in advance, we truly do appreciate it.

You will want a punch to get a good shape for the charm. If you are using the oval charms, there is a punch made by Marvy Urchida that is the right size.

If you print at home, you will want to seal the image so it doesn't bleed at all. I print at the store, so I am not the best person to ask about doing that.

I have been using Magic Glos instead of stickers. MG is a UV curing resin. You put it out in the sun and it hardens in abotu 15 minutes. Its pricy, but since I use so little to make the charms, it last a long time. MG is pretty easy to use and is waterproof too, unlike some other resins and glazes.

HTH!

If printing yourself, print on photo paper. I use ETLite vs stickers on top of the image. I use a small piece of double sided scrapbooking tape to adhere the image to the charm so it doesnt move around/pull up while im applying the etlite. A little bit goes a long way! My charms at rectangle. I've been using an exacti knife to cut. Now that I have a silhouette machine, I may try the print and cut feature. Good luck.

I found an etsy discussion about resins and Magic Gloss, but they were also talking about DG3 and Glossy Accents. Here is the link to that so you can check it out if you want: http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.ph...5871754&page=2

I've used DG3 & I've heard that Glossy Accents is supposed to be even better. I am leary about the resins because of the smell etc, so I haven't tried any. But these might be an option for you.

Also, you can mod podge over what you've printed so that you won't wind up with smudges.

Good luck & I wish your daughter a speedy recovery!!

Thanks for all the tips. One more questions. How to I go about making the designs for her? It's going to get pricey buying them from others.

Thanks!

Question: do you have to use an adhesive to hold the image down? I have done that with bottle caps but I was wondering why? Doesn't the resin hold it down?

It may float up before the resin can cure so it is better to stick it down with some sort of adhesive.
