Wow, she's really good.....I'm wondering if when she cuts her flowers, she cuts out larget, more defined petals. I did a singed flower tonight where I cut flowers not just circles and I can honestly say it looks nothing like that lol.

I'm also going to guess that she singes the flowers in two different directions as was already suggested. Hope that makes sense.

check out this tut on you tube....they are similar, not exact, but I'll bet with some playing around you could get it...the top layers are one piece, not separate petals on the etsy one....

here's another tut that is close...

Those tutorials are great!! Thanks so much. I've done tons of blog/pinterest/google hunting for all types of flowers but couldn't find anything on these! I'm thinking I need to figure out which type of satin it is. It doesn't look like the costume satin from Joann's which I have always used to singe. It looks thicker!

I don't use the costume satin for mine....I use bridal satin it is much heavier...you can get it at JoAnn's, however, if you go to a goodwill or thrift store, you can usually get bridesmaid dresses for cheap and you end up with lots more fabric for the money.....small stains that might be on the dresses don't show up on the flowers. You could also try craigs list and freecycle.

Good to know! I'm going to have to make a stop at Joann's today! Is it actually called bridal satin? The one near me was just re-done and now it is so hard to find anything!! Can't wait to give it a try, thanks!

Ok, I got 1 yd of ivory satin from their "bridal inspirations" and 1 yd from the casa collection. They are both 100% poly, but have a diff feel. The bridal is def heavier. Have to wait til the kiddos go to sleep to test them out! Will update

Ok, so I also make singed satin flowers, and I can see how she does these. Her templates are of all different sizes. Cut out in the shape of a flower, until she gets to the smaller ones in the inside. These "flower templates" only have 3 petals. Does that make sense. She singes the bottom petals to make them curl downwards, and then the middles are singed up. HTH

We were in a tizzy a little while back over my discovery of a makeshift scalloped flower "template". I'll spare you my book-long posts on the topic and just give you a link to the "template".

By the way, welcome to HG!
