(I mean, I think it would be kind of hard to make it with 3/8" ribbon, not that I think it wouldn't be worth making.)
now you've really given me an incentive to take pics . . . yup, the 3/8 is adorable and i glued a sequin clover in the middle and gonna put it on a bunny . . . double duty holiday!

okay - just plunked them down & took a pic . . . they do need some rearranging - but i do that when i glue them onto a clip.

pic 1 is using 3/8 and 5/8 . . . on the 5/8 - i stuck the button in after forming the 2nd loop.

pic 2 is using 7/8 . . . turquoise one has button sewn in and grey one has button glued on top of 3/8 wrap.

i can't decide whether i like the front or the back?

thanks so much barleymom!

edit . . . before your keen eye notices, yup, the clover is upside down - oops!

That is a very pretty bow! Thanks for sharing. I'm going to "attempt" one this week! It's great to learn new things!

Dumb questions here...
Are you taking the ribbon on top, bottom, or middle after making the second loop. Does that make sense? When I got finished I had a tail on top and a tail on the very bottom, so I couldn't tie anything.

And does it make a difference if you are using printed ribbon?

Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean. You put the folds together in order that they are marked. You are supposed to have one tail at the top and one at the bottom. Maybe if you post a photo of what you ended up with, I can understand what you're asking. I have attached a photo from an old tutorial I did for this bow using 5/8" ribbon. (Funny how it's also hot pink!) Maybe that will help. It shows the pin going through the holes I made in the ribbon with the woodburner.

The problem with printed ribbon is, the other side is usually just white or else you can see the dots or prints through to on the other side. But if you do use it you'd probably want the print to end up on the inside of the bow where it will be more visible. I'm not sure how bulky it will end up if you line a printed ribbon.

prleaf, cute! As I said above, my original tut for this bow at the free hairbows group used 5/8" ribbon. I did this new one up with 1 1/2" and two layers since that was the bow that someone wanted instructions for.

i've done it also w/printed ribbon & i'll take a pic when the sun shines tomorrow morning . . . but if you look at the grey one above, that would be the all printed side . . . and the other side just has the pointy caps showing the print - so if you look at the turquoise one - just the pointy caps would be the printed ribbon.

now, if you did it in the reverse . . . oh my goodness - so many different looks!

one tail goes to the right and the opposing tail goes to the left . . . and you gotta kinda squish the tails under if you put a wrapped center - like the grey one above

thanks . . . and i discovered the narrower the ribbon - the smaller the bow has to be to get the pointy tips . . . yup, one of my experiments was using 3/8 and i think marking at every 4" = not good!

wide ribbon scares the crap out of me . . . but maybe i'll give it a try w/this type of bow.
