Default How can I make a shabby chiffon flower?

Does anyone know about a tutorial for a shabby chiffon flower? That could share it with me?

These are mostly purchased. I think to make them would be a pain but I can tell you that you would cut a thin strip of chiffon fabric on the bias and then sew it down the center of the strips in whatever shape you would like. These are worth every penny to purchase in my opinion. Best of luck!!

BTW, I forgot to mention that you would sew it to mesh or any other super light fabric that will not fray.

I made one, they are machine made you need a strip of chiffon and a tulle circle for the base. You start on the out and sew through the middle of the chiffon strip you sew a u shape up and down. 1 u up and 1 u down all ther way around the circle. Then you sew into the middle of the circle and stitch in a circle until you get to the outside of the the u shape stitch a little onto the edge of the u shape.

I will say the time and material are not worth the trouble it is much cheeper to buy them from shabbyflowers.com

But it was fun to have a go.

I was trying to make these myself too! You can make them by hand for sure but I just can't figure out how!

I'm having trouble understanding how you explained this though. Might just be me. Any further instructions?

There are so many group buys for these all the time. In some of these buys the flowers usually end up being .15 each (maybe a tad more if you factor in shipping and buy fees etc). You really can't beat that by making them yourself. Most of the hosts will post out of the US so you might want to check them out! PM me for more info.

this one is similar . . . not exactly like the purchased ones (this one is hot glued) . . . but would come in handy should a specific color is needed . . .

I just bought a bunch of premade shabby flowers from a facebook wholesale group, but I was wondering if I can glue the lined clip directly onto the mesh backing, or if I should put a layer of felt or something there, anyone know?

I'm wondering the same thing about gluing right to the mesh. I'm pretty new and clueless on Shabbies generally. It seems to me most folks glue to felt, and felt to a clip - or glue the felt directly to the elastic. I assume that most people use fold over elastic for these right?

Also any tips for trimming these and tucking the ends? Like I said - brand new in working with these!
