Default Creasing a pinwheel, and creasing in general

So I can NOT get my creases right by sewing... I honestly don't understand what I'm doing wrong, but I'll put three nice, even stitches and I do not get three nice, even creases out of it. So fine, I've started hand folding the crease, which works well... in everything except the pinwheel. Because it's not ribbon right on top of itself, I can't get the creases right. I try to make one fold on each row, and it ends up coming out squished and funny looking. Help me??

This is what I mean... I'm very very new to bow making, so please be kind lol.

I'm no bow expert but what I do is poke my needle through the center of the bow, then start wrapping the needle going over the top first and wrap it a few times then pull tight. Not sure if this is the correct way but it works for me.

I have never tried that way but I'll give it a shot! Sounds easier than stitching which won't work for me anyway haha.

Yes...what she said. That is what I do with mine. If you have trouble keeping it together you can get a Sally Clip (jumbo clips) to help hold your bow together as your needle sits through the center. Then get some wire and wrap it around the center. This will help you practice making your "M" creases.
I have some detailed pics in this section how I used to make them when I was just learning. This proved to be a great tool for me. I no longer need those training wheels anymore.

I'm searching but no luck finding the pictures.
Just to make sure I understand, you lay out the pinwheel, with the tails and then full loop in the 'z' shape, then you stick the middle of it with the needle from the front to the back and wrap the thread around from back to front over and under a few times and then cinch?

Or, or, do you stick the needle in, leave it there, and then wrap independantly?
