Question Bottlecap images keep bleeding!!! what am i doing wrong?

I have printed on cardstock, printer paper, and photo paper. The image comes out great. I put a layer of mod podge over it, let it dry, glue it in bottlecap and cover with resin. I have used several types of resin as well. I have always had great luck with mod podge dimension but lately everything i used causes my image to bleed!!! What am i doing wrong??? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Hi,

I've never used Modge Podge, but I'll let you know what my method is.

I get my images printed at a professional photo developer, like London Drugs, Blacks, Costco, etc, anywhere you would get normal photos printed.

I then punch the images out with my circle punch and run them through a Xyron Sticker Maker.

I rip off the clear plastic of the Xyron strip, then I pop in a "resin drop" right on top of the image.

Then I take both the resin drop and the image of the wax paper, and stick the whole thing onto my bottlecap.

No mess no fuss.

I'm curious though...why do you need modge podge on the top of the image if you're already putting in the resin?

=)

I prefer resin to drops and I had the same problem. I use mod podge also. I started having my images printed by a laser printer and that solved my problem.

if your printing from home then get some mico glaze, just rub a little on the image with your finger and it will stop it from the ink running =)

You can also use clear nail polish as well. I am not a fan of resin drops at all. They work for some people in different areas of the states but down here in the south they seem to want to separate from the cap after awhile.

not everyone uses those sticker resin ... some prefer to do it with liquid resin
they come out 100 times better & stronger as well... i myslef never had luck w/sticker resin my 2& 3yr old can pull them off in no time... images usually stays on cap sticker drop in there hand & to me that is a huge choking risk.

I use epoxy domes. I have used a xyron to stick them to the bottle cap or E6000 works really good too.

I print the pictures out myself on photo paper and I use something from Krylon to protect the images. Don't spray it on too thick because it will crack and look bad. A thin coat will work just fine. This one is good for paper. It helps prevent the colors from bleeding.

We moved from Germany a year ago and I had something else by Krylon, but we had to get rid of it because they won't ship things like that back. I am almost positive it was this.

I use ET Lite resin for the tops.

I was having the same problem when I first started until I started using premium plus photo paper (the expensive stuff). I don't put anything on top of the image except for the resin. I use ET Lite resin.

Hope that helps!
