I am the biggest flower tutorial addict there is.. I am better at making the petaled singed than the plain, however the ones I have made are different from those. There is one on Youtube in which you cut the circle then skno horizonal cuts around the flower, then singe. This makes it more defined than hers. I like hers better.

i think she holds the circle over the flame to melt it a little more around the edges to define the ages. Did you notice that she adds tulle and cotton fabrics on some?

There are two main types, the long skinny type that blows hot and somewhat forcefully (it looks very similar to the ones sold at your local hardware store for tightening the clear insulating plastic people put on their windows), and the one that looks like a travel hair dryer, which blows hot, but more gently.

I have the second type, and use it for singed edge flowers, and also puffs made with scalloped circles cut with my sizzix. If you use it lightly, it works well for sealing the edges of the fabric. I'm not sure which works better though, since I don't have one of the stronger ones to compare with.
Thanks for the explanation. Now that you mention sealing the shrink wrap I do remember them in that context lol.
