I have a hot fix tool I bought at Hobby Lobby for less than $10 I use to set all of my crystals. It really makes a difference if you are doing multiple projects but you can just use your iron to embellish a few things.
There's a big difference in crystal quality too. If you want it to go through the laundry invest in the Swarovski's. They aren't much more expensive than glass but hold up tons better.
