Here are some links that might help regarding the Gymbo clothing and embellishments in general... just things to watch out for in "resale".
eBay Forums: CPSIA/Used Clothing/XRF Test Results ... The crystals are not passing the XRF testing.. and little embellishments. Jennifer over at www.thesmartmama.com has an XRF and has been testing items for years. The government needs to take care of us because we all sit around and let our kids chew their clothing. <insert sarcasm> |

I bought a ton of things at Gymbo just before 2/10 that were crazy cheap, too. I'm sure they are either not compliant or they simply hadn't been tested (making them non-compliant). In my opinion, they are still perfectly safe. Why?
My kids don't eat their clothes. Not even the crystals. Do yours? As a matter of fact, my kids wear TONS of Gymboree and not ever once have I noticed a missing crystal. They just don't seem to come off. Has anyone ever had a crystal come off of a Gymbo shirt? This is not rhetorical, I would sincerely love to know. BUT, beware come resale time... the CPSC specifically says anything with rhinestones (or zippers or snaps!!!!) should be tested or not sold. Crazy. I have bins and bins of clothes to sell! Check out the quote in red below from: Guidance on the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) for Small Businesses, Resellers, Crafters and Charities Table C: Commonly Resold Children’s Products and Materials Clothes with rhinestones, metal or vinyl snaps, zippers, closures or appliqués:
Best to test, contact the manufacturer, or not sell |

Hi Ladies,
I'm new here and this is my first post . I just wanted to mention that there is a major economic crisis going on right now and alot of stores, especially higher end stores like j. crew and pricy stores like gymboree are really suffering. I know that alot of people are getting tax money back right now, so maybe they are hoping that if they mark down some stuff it will increase there sales on coordinating items. Just a shot in the dark...but my cousin is a manager for J. Crew in Charleston SC and she said that even with the new first lady's endorsement, they're sales are way down. Problem is that no one can afford to buy their clothes. Also wanted to mention that I recently closed a retail store for childrens clothing items, and the wholesellers of my items were notifing us over a year ago about the new policies and the certificates that they would be providing us, so I'm sure that the items are fine. I wouldn't worry.marilyn |
