I've only made a few clips but I'm pretty good at it (if I do say so myself) and have been doing a ton of research on ideas, materials, etc. I want to start and online business with my own website - not through ebay.

You ladies have any helpful tips to pass along on how to best get a business started? I've read a lot about some of you working craft fairs. Do you find that helps?

I would love to hear some creative ideas!

Thanks!!! Krissy

The first tip is to marry a computer guy who can do your website for you! It worked for me! When I first started my website, I still listed on eBay. This gave me my first customers and when they ordered I gave a card with my direct website. You need to build up a customer base and then word of mouth and your product will sell itself. Craigslist is another way of advertising, but if you overadvertise on it you will get your ads removed. Finally, when you really think you have a great store and product established you can send your product to various websites for product reviews and/or giveaways. It creates a lot of buzz and can generate more customers for you for very little cost out of your pocket. I would recommend doing this when your product is perfected. You may love your stuff now, but I can guarantee you will love your creations even more as you learn with time. Good luck!

Don't forget to register as a business with your state too for tax purposes! In Michigan, it only cost me $50 to get started.

Can you give some more info about sending in your product for reviews. I am interested in that.

YEP! My husband has a car business now. He only does the car business on the side tho, and it was $50. I want to start a business doing these hair accessories and tutus, I'm just not sure if it will be one of those things that I start doing and a few months later I get tired of it and find something else. I always tend to jump around from one thing to another.
