~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My website has been up and running and STILL no takers. I've had over 250 visitors (some could be repeat, but still!) Are my prices too high? Do my bows look awful? Please, any suggestions are not just welcomed, but I'm begging for ideas, thoughts, criticism, whatever.
Can anyone tell me what you like?
What you don't like about it?
OK. I'm gonna tell you some things that come across my head when I first looked at the site. These are all just my opinion.
*move search site, either to the bottom of the buttons or underneath the paypal logo
*move view cart to last button so that you can see "for sale" buttons sooner
*put a bow in featured item
Just ideas.
many of those visitors could be from here...just lookers, not buyers. Do you have a way to track where they are coming from?
Maybe until you get more items in your store, you can put more item categories on the left. Right now it looks like you don't have many items (with only 2 buying categories).
I also think the prices are a bit high. I don't think I could sell a regular bow for 6.50...I could be wrong. Maybe I'm underselling.
I agree that the visitors can be from here. There's no telling how many are lookers, versus potential customers.
You might want to check your boutique fold. Unless you are meaning to do it this way, you are making a mistake with the fold. Other bowmakers would notice, but I'm sure the casual observer wouldn't.
There are amazing bow makers on this forum (much, much, much more accomplished than I!). In my humble opinion, the bows are in the "learner" phase. I think you'll get better results with more practice in technique, color arrangements, etc. Believe me, I'm in the learning phase too.
Thanks for the ideas, but I don't think I can do these in mode 3, except for the featured item thing. I tried to use the %Featured% code, but I guess that only works in mode 4 too. Trying to do all this without paying someone for a web design.....so I'll keep working on it.
Thanks, Lorrie
I'm working on my site now and have looked at tons of web pages. I think yours looks good, but I think your prices are high compared to a lot of other sites. People still have to pay shipping on top of the order. Hope you don't mind me saying. Cute stuff!!
I agree with Laura. I have not venrutred out to do a site yet myself because I am a chicken, but after looking at many, many, many bow sites, I think that Laura has hit two points straight on the head. I feel that I am on the expensive side of the spectrum, cause I have alot of boutique mommies in a very small town and the only place to buy bows near us is Dillards 1 hr away, so I can have higher prices. But some of your prices for simple bows are double what mine are. I see the same price on a 2" bow and on a 4" bow. And as a buyer, I would not be willing to pay an extra $1.50 for a french clip. I would immediately go to another site. I am like Laura, I am still in the learner stage too, I feel, but that is how the bows look. THere is not a 'poslished' look to the products. Other than that, it looks great. I know that it is alot of hard work and very frustrating, but great job so far!!!
I hope I haven't offended you. You asked for honest opinions and that is what I gave.
Don't be discouraged, dear. It takes a LOT of guts to start a website. You've made the first big leap of faith. <<hugs>>
I agree with some of the other ladies. I know I've visited your site bf just looking. I visit everyones sites. Your bows are cute. One thing I did notice is you have a lot of prints. Maybe if you added more solid colors. I love the gift cans. I thought about doing that after my dd received one, haven't ventured that far yet. Don't give up.
