I'm trying to price my bows for the website and for local customers (need 2 be less expensive). The "plainer" bows are simple enough to price, but HOW do you decide on a price for a layered, spiked, hoo-haa'd bow? I hesitate to even think about how much $ is in just one bow.

For example, in one bow I counted 6 different ribbons from 3/8 to 1.5 inch. It has about 5 layers, including spikes! I'd love to get 15 to 20$ for this, but that sounds high to me, especially locally.

How do you price yours?

I think a good rule of thumb is to first figure out how much your supplies cost. For bows, I figure out how much the ribbon cost per inch (per yard cost divided by 36), then I figure out how many inches of ribbon I use in each bow, add the cost of embellishments and hardware. I then add in twenty-five cents for the cost of things it's almost impossible to figure out like glue and thread. After I get how much it actually cost to make the bow I then add on how much I want to make an hour. So let's say it the material cost you $3 to make a layered loopy bow (just guessing, I don't make these, so I don't know how much it actually costs) you can make two an hour and you want to make $10 (or whatever you feel your time is worth) an hour. That would put the bow at $8, I think, it's late and I'm tired so my math might be off.
