Getting Business Started

OK all,

These might be dumb questions, but I need a little help. I have got my website template and my host taken care of. I just need to build the site. But my questions are:

1. Do you have to be a licensed business to have a working website that brings in income (probably right? I would need a tax ID, etc?)

2. Do you charge tax on the products you're selling?

I have a business license, tax ID and charge sales tax for any sale I make in my home state. I got the license, because 9 years ago when I opened up and wanted to do a craft fair in my home town, they required a license and tax number. And I file taxes every year and my accountant wanted me to report my ebay sales. PLUS, I found out that the IRS was checking on ebay sellers not reporting taxes. So I decided to just be safe instead of sorry. I am not aware of hobby businesses. So I will have to plead ignorance there. Could be true! But anyway, good luck with your business!!

I guess I have some investigating to do with my state to see what's on the up and up. I'm weary of not being "legit!"
