Re: No Clothing tax state
I'm in NJ too. I just emailed NJ DIvision of Tax bc it states that hairbows are exempt from tax but headbands, barrettes, clips are not. Now, the hairbow is on the barrette/clip so doesn't that make it taxable now? I was confused so I emailed them (also had some questions about stuff for my invite business, but that's OT), so I'm waiting to hear back from them.
From what I read and understood on there, when you order on the internet, there is no tax unless the purchaser is from the state where you are located. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to submit the tax to the state for the purchases they have made online. Same thing when the NY'ers go to Woodbridge/Menlo Park/Short Hills, etc malls and go shopping for clothes and shoes so they don't pay tax, technically they are supposed to remit what they would have paid on tax to NY. Does anyone do it? Probably not too many.
