I have been checking out bows on Ebay and it looks like they are alomost givingthem away, especially the lots of solid color bows. I see that the larger layered bows do ok, but it seems that you have to find the exact right customer. So can you make money there or do most people just use it as advertisement for their website?

Between fees- and everything else- I don't think they make any money. I think they use it more for advertising and getting a customer base then anything else.

I would think that you would do bettor on Etsy. Fees are much less. Ebay is making it hard for people who aren't power sellers to make money.

I do better on Etsy on hair items I make then on Ebay. If your items are very unique though you never when someone will bid over $20 on ebay to have it.
I use to sell all the time on ebay, now I sell a quarter of what I use to so I can save on fee's. Ebay can work very well if you have an established customer base, when you first start on there you might not make much for your items but the ending bids should increase over time.

it has gotten really hard to make any money on ebay. between paying their fees and the fact that there are so many people on there selling the exact same thing. you have to be really low with your pricing, which alot of times means undercutting yourself. so to me etsy is a little better, but there are also alot of people selling bows and such on there too.

I just started buying items on ebay... I started vendoring for a childrens boutique and she needed my socks already fastened and hooked, so I went on e-bay for the supplies. I tried selling on there once and ended up selling a pigtail hair bow set which included 2 3.5" double layer hair bows... they sold for $1.80. needless to say I will NOT be selling on ebay anymore, LOL.
Etsy and my blog work fabulous for me!!!

I actually do quite well on ebay. I'm in a different country though so it's probably a bit different. Most of my sales though come through my website now. I only list a few things at a time on ebay to keep the fees low. It's good marketing for me.

Sometimes I do pretty good and sometimes I don't. Ebays fees are getting higher and since they have changed the feedback I don't like it. Buyers can give Sellers negative feedback but Sellers cant give Buyers negative feedback, which makes no sense to me at all! I have had so many problems with buyers on ebay that its getting to where its not even worth my time to sell on there anymore. I hate that they dont take the ebay fees out as soon as you list something or as soon as it sells because in a month you get slammed with a huge fee. I think I will just use ebay as a marketing source to get my website out there (when I get it ready).

If you are a member of one of the elite bow clubs, you can make money on ebay! I am not! LOL! And I can't afford to give them away-SO, I went to etsy! But last check, when I did a general search on etsy, there were over 900 pages of bows! I am just wondering where a good place to go now is?? Not ebay-fees are bad for me and sales were low.
