This is NOT COOL!!! There are adults that have NO CLUE how to run a business. I have been very afraid to buy from anyone on here lately because it seems that there have been a lot of ladies that have had transactions go bad. Have any one there been with kids??

There is no telling. The two I was alerted on are new here and are trying to sell. I am not sure that is a good idea when nowhere on their profile or siggy does it state they are kids.

Taking money for a good or service without providing a good or service is theft. And children can be held accountable for theft with law enforcement, they can get in trouble for stealing and might possibly have to pay restitution but there are no guarantees. With that said you have the whole jurisdiction thing (is it where you live, or where they live), filing charges, etc... Which in the end will wind up costing you more $$$ and lots of time.

How do we go about finding out who the minors here are? I spend a lot of money on this board, it's hard enough dealing with some of the adults that sell here, but to add kids into the mix???

Ronnie you bring up a lot of good questions and I thank you for all the wisdom you share with this board.

Alot of you are saying that you only do buisness with people you know on here but what about those of us who are just getting into group buys? What should we look for and how should we know who to trust? So far I have only bought from destashes and only low amounts of money, less than $50.00, but last October ( I think) I had to do a paypal disbute because I did not receive an item from someone on here that did have great feedback. Luckily with paypal is was pretty easy.

It took me about 6 months before I bought from anyone on here. During that whole time I watched everyone who was selling to figure out who always had good transactions and who didnt. During this time I learned about feedback (which was not something we had on here to go by). I had to go to ebay and etsy to track down feedback on everyone. In the yahoo groups I had to follow along to see who was doing good business and who wasnt. It took me a long time to figure out who I wanted to do business with. It took me about a yr before finding a group but host who I could trust. I did not dive right into it blind like so many are doing right now. I took my time and researched. When I did start participating I bought small amounts....just enough to where I knew if I was out of money it would not hurt me and I could chalk it up as a lesson learned. I have yet to this day (knock on wood) to get screwed over and be out of money. Only one person almost did this and I made sure she refunded me.

I try not to spend over 50.00 in group buys. You have to be on here for awhile and not just dive into the gb's. Get to know everyone and read what is going on in the gb's....so this way you know what to expect down the road.

It does say this in the general forum usage section...

If you are under the age of 13, the administrator may require that a parent or guardian provide consent before allowing you to complete the registration process. More information about this is available during the registration process.

It's been so long, I can't remember the whole reg. process.

13 is still pretty young to be buying and selling things without express parental permission.

I would Be interested in knowing who they are. I do a lot of transactions here. However i do believe in offering newbies a chance rather they are adults or minors. U never know how they handle business until u give them a chance. I for one started crafts at 4yrs old and sold them at craft shows. Granted there was no internet when i was a child but if there was I'm sure. I would of asked my parents to get something going for me. I have always been an entrepenuer. What's telling they are not the same

I can see that they may be members on here and pick up tips form threads posted but to be able to sell or offer services is something else. Although I would not allow my girls to do that at that age.
