Default People need to stop spreading the word!

Ok, so I am fairly new on here from about 4 months ago...but I found hipgirls forums through a google search for instructions to some type of bow(can't remember which). But besides that, there are some people on here who are telling random people on the halo heaven fan page on facebook all about hip girls and there are a few "junior members" on here now who are hacking, yes, HACKING the site and posting random links and such.... look around and youll see what I mean! I hate to see such a great, helpful site get abused by people who are looking to cause trouble.
So, my whole point is to ask people who are members and active members on here to not spread the word so freely unless you know someone is legit with their business/ work.
Thanks!

I have read this a couple of times, and I am still not sure what you are talking about? What do you mean, hacking? Are you saying junior members are trying to break into the back door of this website and are trying to use this website for their own purposes? If so, I would definitely recommend dropping a line to Michelle. Other than that, I can not really understand what you mean by "hacking". Are you saying they are posting links to other websites on threads here, and that is "hacking"? Are you getting "hacking" confused with "hijacking"? Are they hijacking threads by posting links to other websites? If so, I would definitely report them as well.

I am not really sure what you are complaining about. Are you upset that hipgirls is getting to be "known"? Are you worried that more and more people will learn how to make bows and where to buy supplies? If so....yes, that is going to happen....but, that is going to happen whether or not new people learn about hipgirls. Do not forget that this site was started by Michelle to boost sales on her supply site....she would love nothing more than for hipgirls to get even more known than it is.

Competition is, and will always be.....as crafters, we have to keep refining our product to stay ahead of the game.

LMK if I am mis-understanding what you are saying.....

I guess you are kind of understanding me. I will try to find the post by some junior member that had about 20 different links with words in the links that included the word, "hack". I'm not sure what their purpose is...if any at all... as for the misunderstanding...I am not mad or upset that this forum is becoming more well-known, just upset that some people are abusing it by making irrelevant posts with hacking links. I hope the best for this site, the more the merrier, as long as the people are legit and not looking to start trouble. No one in upstate area does any type of business dealing with bows, even if they did, I wouldnt mind them becoming members on here, as long as they had good intentions.

Hack - To gain access to (a computer file or network) illegally or without authorization: hacked the firm's personnel database (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/hack)j

Does not make sense in the context that you used it in. I'm so lost. And how have you determined that it because of Halo Heaven's fan page?

Do you mean that it is spam that is inappropriate for this forum? If you see a spammer's post, click the red & black triangle in the upper right corner of the post to alert the moderators/ admin.

If you read what I just wrote, the links the person posted have the word HACK in the links. My father in law is a computer tech and said that if you click corrupt links, a person can indeed hack your computer from their own. I don't know how to be more clear, sorry if you are confused...

I'm confused as well.

As far as spreading the word, google and all the other search engines do that far more than the members do

So your father in law, the computer tech, said that links with the word hack in them when clicked on allow access to the clicker's computer. That is much more clear than "hacking, yes, HACKING the site and posting random links and such" Thanks for clarifying. No need to apologize. I am no longer confused. I'll have to google that as I am not a computer tech and this is fascinating to me.

Have a wonderful day.

I saw a post like the op is talking about, someone had posted a question or ISO or something like that and the first response was a bunch of links with short comments next to each link.

I reported it as spam. That was the only post like that I saw, but it seems like they come in spurts, so I am sure there will, or already has been, more of them.

I can not say if it was from people posting on HH FB account though.

I've seen spam posts off and on since I joined 2 years ago too. Even ones with porn in them I just report them and move on.

Thanks for clarifying....I was VERY sleepy when I first read your post. And, I am not SUPER computer savvy, so I was very confused!!

I would say, if you see something....definitely report it!!
