Default is it bad business...?

Hey everyone, I bought a bootie pattern on Etsy and I quickly sewed a pair up for my baby girl. Well they dont fit and fall off at the heel. So me and my husband altered the pattern so now it doesnt fall off her foot. I thought they were really cute and on the pattern it says not to sell for profit. Is it bad business to sell the altered pattern? I dont want to step on anyones toes but I'm really good at sewing them and they are so darn cute. Thanks...any advice is appreciated!

Yeah, I dont think you should sell the altered pattern...If you are selling the finished product that you made from the pattern, I dont see anything wrong with that.

Yes I would agree with the others. It would be very bad business to sell the altered pattern.

I agree with the PPs - and (correct me if I'm wrong) I think they're all saying that you CAN sell the booties you make with this pattern - but NOT to sell the actual pattern.

Well on the instructions for the pattern it says "Do not sell items made from this pattern" and " Do not sell this pattern or distribute to others" so I think she really wouldnt want me to sell them at a shop. But surely if a family member or a friend want to pay me to make them a pair that would be ok? Thanks everyone!

My thinking would be, what if I sold them to a friend who had a friend who had a friend that WAS the etsy seller and she found out about it. Slim chance true, but one you have to ask yourself if you are willing to take.
Why not sit down and write your own instructions and sell those. You've made a pair, you got it to fit the way you want, so write it out, take a few pictures and ta-da....you have your own tut that you can do with what you want.
