Default To Bling or Not To Bling That Is The Question

Ok, so I'm still fairly new to the scene. This has been my best year by far but I've felt out my area and I know what isn't selling. So at the start of the coming year, I am adding new items to my booth/fb. A friend of mine told me tonight that I needed to start going over the top with my items. Over the top meaning add more feathers and rhinestones or even beads to my bows and flowers and make my tutus fluffier with more color combos and ect., ect. My question is this..Do you think more is better? I'm kinda leary because right now I am staying kinda in the middle... not too much but not too little either. I fear that if I try to go more that I will end up with a lot of unsold product at the end of the year and further in debt than I already am. What is your personal experience if you've delt with the same dilemma?

just like when introducing any new product, start with a few items...see how they sell....then add more, or drop the "new line" altogether...it may be that something totally OTT will sell awesome for you, or just simply adding some bling to a solid-colored TBB does the trick!!

I try to offer a wide variety. I make lots of simple twisted boutique bows, printed twisteds, spiked and stacked twisteds. Trying to appeal to lots of tastes. I'd try offering some over the top bows, just to gauge interest. Something I've been learning is you can't sell it if you don't make it up. You might not sell it if you make it, but you certainly won't sell it if you never make it.

Yeah, you Texan's like em big!!! lol I have a few girls from Texas and the bigger and the more bling the better!!! Never in a million years did I think I would ever do those kinds of bows or even really like them, but I get the biggest kick out of seeing what I can put together now! And, since having a couple initial requests for bigger, crazier bows my business has taken off and I've gotten a ton more orders for stuff like that! Try just a couple... you don't have much to lose Warning, it's addictive!
