Pinterest has a page on etiquette: http://pinterest.com/about/etiquette/ The section on this says:

"Avoid Self Promotion
Pinterest is designed to curate and share things you love. If there is a photo or project you’re proud of, pin away! However, try not to use Pinterest purely as a tool for self-promotion."

Did you set up the "pin" application in your favorites? If not, there are directions on the pinterest site (drop down boxes) that give you the URL etc.

It took a few times of downloading it for me before it worked. Now, it's all set up and works like a charm! I do refuse to pin pictures with children in them from craft blogs etc, but a lot of times, there is a picture in the tutorial that will work out.

When I tried to pin a picture from FB, I received a message box that said pinterest does not allow pinning from FB. That was months ago, so maybe it works now.

It says not to use it "purely" for self-promotion.... the operative word being "purely." So, I figure I'm OK if I pin something from my website once in a while.

I am so pathetically addicted to Pinterest it's not even funny. I have gained enormous amounts of inspiration from pins that has only improved my business. Will people "copy" your work? Of course... but how many of us actually have legit one-of-a-kind ideas? Yeah... Call me crazy, but I don't like to copy things outright. I like to have things to call my own, pulling from inspiration of others. You can be an artist/designer or you can be a copycat. When it comes down to it, you can't control the morals of others.
