Default How to keep up with tons of posts on ETSY?

I have done tons of looking at etsy the last few days, everything from hairbows to the zillion other items listed.

I know this is nothing new to you all but how do we make sales when we only list a few things a day?
I can't list the 10 to 20 plus items other stores are. I do bump up some of my things once in a while.

But the stores that list that many items each day are up there in sales ie: one store, not hair bows, I looked at this AM had 34 sales on the 23 of April and has over 2500 sales in a little over a year. There is tons of competition for baby leg crawlers, thats the store I was looking at. But she has also posted about 15 times today. I know that's cheap adverstising $3.00 to be exact.

I also have been trying to promote my store. It just feels frustrating it seems like a huge game........maybe etsy is not for all of us......boo hoo!

What I've noticed is that within about 1 1/2 hour of posting I am usually burried past page 5 or so. I think when people searchfor items they don't look too far past page three. What do you think?

Any advice....

I always try to keep one listing in the top ten pages, it's worked so far.

It is really hard to keep up. Some days are just worse than others. Some days I will have my item on the first page for hours, other days for only a few minutes.

All I can suggest is to list 2-3 items a day. One in the morning, one in the afternoon, and one in the evening. For me, I have days were I get no sales and then BAM they flow in. There is really no pattern either. Sometimes it is a day after I list a lot of things and sometimes it is when I don't list much.

Okay, I was no help!! lol. Sorry

I only list things every couple days now, sometimes I'll do one a day, or I'll skip a couple days and then do three at different times in one day. I do not see any pattern with the views or sales I get though.

I do agree with posting in the forums, and not just the promos, try to post in other places too. The last sale I had was from someone I ran into in the forums and she asked if I had a certain ribbon and if I could make a medium size bow. I do not usually list bows!! So she would have never found me or asked if I made bows had we not started chatting in the forums!

I promote as much as I can off of Etsy too, that helps.

I agree it is just by chance that someone sees your shop and buys. I have been on Etsy just over a year now. I use Etsy to have a cheap website that I can direct my moms club customers too to see my products and if I get sales off of Etsy also then it is great. I promote and promote but it doesn't really seem to help. The only people around here that seem to want my cards are the pyramid selling groups. I have had two of them call my house.

This is what I have started to do, so I won't be glued to the computer all day:

Each night, I decide what 3 items I want to list the next day, for morning, noon and evening. I take photos, upload and edit. Then I write the descriptions in Word. That way, the next day I can jump on and literally take a minute to add the item. I just cut and paste my description and upload the photos. Preparing the night before when the kids are in bed and not at my feet really speeds things up and makes it less stressful.

It is super annoying to see all the relists over and over. Esp. when their prices are SO much higher than everyone else. Of course, being on the first page every time gets the sales,so they are doing something right.

I agree with everyone else. My store has slowed down a bit- and I am actually glad! Between the show, the house, and the store.. I am going batty.

The forums help- you just have to go with the flow. I have also noticed most of my sales are early week and Saturdays. When I list on Sunday- I don't get any views!

Did you know you can make your listing without listing it? Do all the steps except the last one (write listings, tags, photos, pricing, etc.), but don't "finish". When you get to the last step copy the link. I have a word document called, "Etsy Listings". I just paste the link in there. Then the next day I copy and paste it back to my broswer and click "finish". wah lah!

That's a great tip, I had no idea.
I am trying to list at least 1 thing a day but I am not really good about it-- especially when we get super busy with stuff I just forgot or don't have the energy to do it.

I try to take pictures in the morning before DD wakes up and then when she goes down for her nap in the afternoon, I will edit the photo and list something if I can.
