I really think that the more stuff you have the better. Also the more variety seems to help too. I didn't see your prices, but i'm sure they were good! People would walk by and see my onesies and stuff and that would draw them in and then they would see all the other stuff. You have to think about what draws you into a store at the mall? Eye candy, if you see something bright or different you are more likely gonna go in and check it out.

I thought my pink peg boards would be good to draw people in haha thats what I said about yours when we were sitting there is that they see all of the onesies and than they go look at everything else...yeah my prices were good nothing was over $6..and I had a lot of 3 for $10 deals, 3 for $12 deal etc.. I had a LOT of trouble with the peg boards though and the sign blowing everywhere we had to attach the boards to the table and a chair as well as the top of the tent. I wasnt able to use my entire booth because of the peg boards, so it made it smaller inside too and people couldnt look around very easily. BLAH, I was just really needing a good show!

Well don't give up!! You just have to find what works for you. I have found that white background makes all my stuff pop. I like the booths with the cute boas like the hh girl, but my eye candy was my product, ya know. And it went over really good!

for your listing, you might want to try doing a variety pack of bows--like 4 in the sale. just list "you get a pink, blue, red and white bow". but i always just list one and then when it sales, i go into sold items and pick the item--you can then pick relist and list it again!!

sorry about your show. that is the bad part now--it seems that EVERYONE makes bows and every show has a lot of bow boothes!!

I see people doing the 'pick one' thing all the time on etsy! Is it really against the rules??

I was starting to think that *I* should adopt that strategy!! LOL

Tiny, it really sucks that they had y'all all grouped together. That seems really weird. I would let the organizors of the event know for next time..

Re: white/pink backgrounds...I use a pink background with pink and green polka dots...I wonder sometimes if it's too much pink. Maybe I should try white backgrounds.

Where are y'all from? I have never had to compete with another bow vendor...I'm in Austin, Texas...I think everyone around here is in boutiques, not doing shows.

Back to the original topic:

**Tiny, I would take some really good photos of your bows and list them one at a time. When it sells, relist it. That will keep you in the top longer. Plus, you are only paying 20 cents again if it sells the first time.

**maybe with all of your inventory, now is a good time to have an open house/bow party?

**LOOK around for more shows. Holiday season is right around the corner. It wont be such a pain to do church shows and other little events when you have the inventory already.

Keep your chin up! Craft shows can be really hit-or-miss.

yep end of Aug an begining of sept is when the fall season for shows and festivals really gears up. dont be hasty to sell off all your inv ... otherwise you wont have enough for those shows....

it sucks that you barely made your booth fee back but that happens from time to time.....

yep, me and several others were flagged for it awhile back. I went round and round with emails with Etsy. Doesn't matter if others are doing it, they didn't get flagged LOL! I might still have the emails, it was ridiculous, but if you read all the Do's and Dont's, it is an Etsy rule.

so, you can't break *that* rule, but people can sell HH stuff as their own? I guess that rule takes money away from Etsy, while reselling HH stuff adds to their profit?

I know, it is really irritating seeing all the reselling and mistagging (plain crochet headbands sold as handmade instead of supply), makes me almost want to start flagging!
