Default stupid question

Hi ~ Stupid question.... How hard is it to learn how to learn embroidery? I have NO idea what I'm doing. Don't want to spend the $ if it's going to take me a year to figure it out

I was able to start using my embroidery machine almost right away. To really do orders, and do work for others, I think you have to give yourself a while to master your machine. It took me a good 2-4 months to really get a good feel for what I was doing. 11 years later I am still learning... Give yourself time, do small persoal projects before you tackle doing for others. Goodluck!

I bought a machine and right out of the box was able to do things. I am still learning a year later but I have done several things as gifts and several cute, cute things for my daughter. No classes, just trial and error and lots of helps from discussion boards. You can do it and you will love it! I have bought lots of patterns from etsy and the sellers are more than willing to help and walk you through the process. All you have to do is ask! My only regret, not buying mine sooner!
Have a Blessed day,

Thank you SO much!!!! Do you think one machine is particularly easier? I've read alot on the board about the Brother 7 (something) one was a disney one.

Also I have a Mac, does that make any difference in anything?

its easy to pick up.. I agree, lots of trial and error.. I got my machine in Nov(or late oct.. i posted when I got it lol) and have learned a lot since then but no where an expert.. be prepared its an expensive addiction! I am always buying new designs, I still have yet to go into joanns and buy a bunch of fabric, mainly bc I need to go to casa de grandma's first to take some away from her hoarding stash haha

I have a brother PE 770. I did lots and lots of research and decided for what I wanted to do this was the best option and best priced. Here is what I was told, please forgive me or someone correct me if I am speaking in error. I was told the difference in a machine with or without Disney is about $100. I wasn't interested in Disney characters so I opted out of it. I have a mac as well. I have downloaded from the computer to a thumb drive and thumb drive to machine without a problem on the mac. As far as software goes I have looked into that and decided for me I am going to buy sew what pro and it is mac compatible. Which was one of the big deciding factors for me. I hope this helps and again I apologize if I have spoke incorrectly however, this is what I was told when I bought my machine.
