I have removed some monograms with a seem ripper before. It kinda leaves a spot where the monogram was originally but if you are just going to put something else there it should be okay I would think.

I'm so sorry, but my very first thought was "oooo, good luck on that!"

Depending on how close together the stitches are, you will 99.9% likely see where the monogram was, even after taking all the stitches out. My advice would be to use the seam ripper from the back of the embroidery - less chance of accidentally cutting the fabric you don't want caught by the seam ripper.

After ALL the embroidery stitches are removed, try washing it - sometimes that gets the threads of the fabric to go back into place a bit instead of there being a holey 'dot to dot' look where the embroidery was.

So long as the fabric isn't damaged when you pick the stitching out, you should be able to have another monogram put on.

the best way to remove embroidery is this lil gadget. I do not have it yet but all of the embroidery groups I am involved in say it is a good lil thing to have.
