ebays buyer and seller: Honestly do you think fancyful auction template helps?

I answered that as a buyer I am not attracted to fanciful templates. I chose that answer because there was not an answer that really fit how I feel about the templates.

I am more attracted to auctions where the information is laid out well, with good grammar and sentence structure. Divisions between sections (e.g. info about the item, seller's policies, shipping, etc.) help. Something that makes the auction page unique (like a simple template) can draw me in and make me want to know more.

What I cannot stand is when an auction is so fancy that it takes forever to load everything! Or when I have to scroll for pages and pages to find the important information because the seller is telling their life story or has to complain about every bad experience they have had with buyers, or lists every bit of praise that have ever received from a buyer. It is just too much sometimes.

I prefer a plain, boring auction over one that takes more than a few seconds to load or that requires me to read for hours to make sure I did not miss any important information.

It doesn't make me want to buy an item just because of the template. But, I have wondered myself about about much difference it makes in selling. I guess it makes it look more professional, but they cost at least $4 and after all the Ebay fees and paypal fees I don't see how you would make any money.

Absolutely, no question in my experience. If you are selling boutique type items, a boutique-like template and great images will help the customer feel like they are buying a boutique item...and they will be more willing to pay boutique price. I was a hair bow powerseller on ebay, until I decided to move away from ebay, and trust me, customized auction templates and great images make a huge difference in how well things sell. Other things to pay attention to...spelling, accurate descriptions, size information...and did I mention pictures.

Your auction template and images are your product's display. Effort to make it unique and eye catching will set you apart from your competition, and make you appear more professional. If you take the time to make your listing look professional, it gives people more trust that your product is professional and well done. I can't tell you how many customers have told me this exact thing, and told me that was why they chose my product.

As a buyer the templates and fancy schmancy thing does nothing for me.

I look for 2 things when I am buying on ebay, my item and buy it now at or near the price that I am willing to pay.

I hate the auction and bidding features.

I guess you can say I am the anti-ebay ebayer.

To be honest, it does not matter to me as a buyer, but I do believe that it probably does make a positive impact because it lends an air of professionalism to the store
