You know ebay just pisses me off. I had this person win one of my auctions for a gift certificate. They paid and I shipped it the next day. I hadn't looked at my ebay account before I printed the shipping label and I had ran errands that day so I had dropped it off in the mail already. I had no less than 20 emails from this lady demanding I email her the gift certificate code. I refused because of ebay rules and told her I had mailed it to her confirmed paypal address.

She emails me in the middle of the night with "do you want negative feedback" and I tell her well of course not but I will not email it. So then she files a paypal claim 2 days after I paid and the day after I mailed. So Im like screw it, ill just refund. So I use the gift certificate and refund her money. I don't file NPB cuz she did pay and I got my fees back anyways cuz im a powerseller.

A month later she negs me with "never received". Of course dings my 100%. Just pisses me off and there is NOTHING i can do about that. I was screwed if I emailed it, cuz she would have just said I sent her a bad gc and did a chargeback, or I could have waited it out but due to her claim paypal would have just refunded her anyways.

I agree with everyone, Ebay stinks right now with the new policies. Both my parents and I sell on ebay, and I just don't want to list anything because of new feedback. My parents have started to not accept paypal to prevent buyers from trying to get their money back once the item is shipped. It's a shame that some people are so dishonest.

Ebay can be a real pain in the butt. I have sold on ebay and the same thing has happened to me. I wish that there was more protection on the seller's behalf more often.

Man the new feedback thing suckies! It took me FOREVER to get back to 100%. I would continue on my thoughts about it but I know that everyone feels the same way, sigh. It will never get better.

I agree, ebay is a headache. I don't miss it one bit! It is almost like people are waiting for something to complain about, in an effort to get something for free or discounted.

Packages do get lost, and I always felt that my responsibility as a seller (both on ebay and on my website) was to show that I had mailed it to the correct address, on time, and provide tracking of some sort. First Class mail actually offers delivery confirmation for $0.14 (I think) if you do it online, a significant discount from doing it at the post office. That way, people can see their package along the way, but it is just a few pennies extra. My shipping charge for my customers is only $2, and this includes bows in a box and delivery confirmation. If Delivery Confirmation shows that bows have been delivered to the address provided, that has been helpful in more than one instance. Sometimes, delivery confirmation has shown that bows never arrived, or as happened two days ago, that it is "stuck" at the postal center for over two weeks! In cases like these, I actually know that the person did not receive their bows, and I do replace them. Without DC, I would not have any idea if they were being honest or not. That is why all of my packages have DC, and I do it for super-cheap by printing my shipping labels online. I hope this helps!

Have you sent an email to ebay about this? I had this happen where the person plainly threatened to leave negative feedback. I was able to show that I did my part and even got a happy email thanking me before that. I used some ebay rules and terminology and threatened them back telling them it was feedback extortion and I was reporting them to ebay. My negative feedback got removed the next day. I can send you a copy of the message if you would like. It might scare them into changing your feedback. HTH

Maybe we should file an anti-trust lawsuit for requiring ONLY paypal for payment, seeing as Ebay owns Paypal.

I actually like the new feedback system...okay let me rephrase that - except the whole *can't leave a buyer negative feedback* part. I think that's really lame and gives a lot of bad buyers an out for holding up their end. I guess the alternative is not leaving feedback but people don't pay attention to that. When I see someone has less than 100% feedback I go back and read why - lots of times it's because of stupid buyers who just leave it before communicating. That frustrates me too....I had someone on etsy leave me negative feedback because her package took a bit longer to receive (postal issue not me) but instead of communicating with me she just went straight to negative feedback I was so miffed...I leave positive feedback based on my experience so left her positive anyways (she had paid right away) but I was totally choked that she was so ignorant about it. She didn't even write to find out why there was a delay....*sigh*

Anyways - it does seem like there isn't much protection for the seller though. I don't actually sell anything on ebay so don't know it first hand and have thankfully had awesome experiences with those I've purchased from. I'm also an excellent buyer which helps lol

Sorry for all your troubles - it really does sound frustrating! It's so silly to me that they changed the system to only go the one way....I personally don't like leaving negative feedback and have never done it (I'd rather just not leave it....unless the situation was really bad and the seller was uncooperative but I've never had that) but it's pretty annoying that for sellers the option is no longer there..

grrr

its sooo funny that i found this thread. i have been so frustrated with ebay lately because of the fees. After selling just a $100 worth of stuff, my fees to list them and the final value fees totaled $22, thats 22%. It just seems ridiculous. I just think to myself, if there are 1 million people on here and this happens to every one thats $22 million in fees, this blows me away. You would think that after getting such a large community they would lower the fees. I looked into getting a store and that still isnt worth it. I just signed up for etsy but it seems that there are sooooo many people doing the same thing i am and i gotta come up with million dollar idea just to get anywhere... aarrrggg... oh and then there are the paypal fees on top of the ebay fees. very very frustrating

that is terrible I only sell on ebay my sample sets I use for modeling. Once in a while If I have a good feeling Ill sell on ebay. I went in on a website with a group of girls I met on ebay through their groups and it ended up costing us 1/4 of what the cost would be had we tried to get it ourselves. Maybe you have someone you can trust and go in on a website together. We all have our paypal accounts linked to the webpages but they are all seperate so no one crosses money with money you should try that route. We pitched in on our hosting and domain. This wouldve cost an arm and a leg had we had to do it on our own. This whole paying other people is getting old real quick. Luckily etsy is super cheap
