Anybody knows how to crochet this very cute hat?

Hello Ladies!
I am new here (even if I registered long time before...). I think this is a great forum. I can crochet something but not very difficult... I'd like to make a very cute hat for my 2.5 year daughter. Any ideas how to crochet this?

So cute! I'm sure it'd be easy if we could figure out the ruffle. We'll have to wait till the seasoned crocheter's log on. I'm not good at coming up with instructions. It's very cute!! I'd love to try to make it too.

did I mention it's free? you'd have to alter it to fit bigger heads. and add a flower for the same look that you're going for.

Well if you have ever crocheted a beanie before, it looks like it's just a double stitch and the ruffle at the bottom is made by crocheting three or five double stiches in every third stitch. As for the flower it looks like a triple stitch chain thats been wound into a spiral. I hope you can understand it if you understand actual crochet patterns I could try and recreate it. Let me know.

What is the best way to learn to crochet? I have only done a chain stitch and dont know where to start with a pattern. I see all the abbreviations...lol

Thank you! I know how to crochet, I mean I'll understand the terms and how to do the stitches I just always have problems with adjusting-decreasing... That's why I like to see the pattern or to read the instructions
By the way, it's a great forum! I registered long time before but didn't go here- was too busy with my full time job and my 2-year-old daughter. But now I'll try to visit it more often

A few people here have used the youtube videos to learn.
There is also the "Crocheting for dummies" book, or the "Learn to crochet in 10, 20, 30 mins" book.
I took a class. They have classes at your local "Michaels" and "Joanns".
