Closing the top of a waffle hat?

What do I use to sew the top (one end) of the crochet waffle beanies? Embroidery thread is what I was thinking, but not sure. I usually buy them done already. Thanks!

i just sew the with regular thread u cannot see it if you weave it correctly and they have held great for me i usually thread them twice though and make sure you tie them off good also

I just use regular thread, too. I try to match the thread color as closely as possible and weave it through twice, as well.
