Thinking about doing a consignment sale...

in July. I have time to prepare. Probably a lot of boutique bows and some korkers. A few layered bows. The only problem is that I haven't been to this consignment sale before so I don't know how many bow suppliers they have, how they're priced, etc... What has been your experience at consignment sales. The seller gets 70% - $6. It looks pretty big from the pictures. Here's the website. It will be a back to school sale. Hand Me Ups Kids Sale

It looks pretty similar to the consignment sales I just participated in, except it is much shorter. Here's a link to what I posted about my experience.

You might want to keep them simple though. People go to these sales for a bargain so they probably aren't shopping for a $10 bow. If you put your bows on a bowcard, make sure you list your etsy site. They could see your more elaborate bows on your site. And I really liked doing the consignment sale and will be doing them again! HTH

I do consignment sales, and I really like it. I will say that I do awesome on head bands and character clippies. Ladybugs, butterflies, hearts & turkeys have all big really big sellers for me. I sold over 20 turkeys at one sale alone! And the owner said that I would have sold more if they had them. I try to stick to basic bows, but do some boutique bows of the more popular color combination- pink/brown, red/white/black, red/white/blue, pink/green, blue/green. They sell pretty well too.

Good luck. I really enjoy doing them, because I don't have to sit there and sell them myself. LOL

Well, I don't think I'll be able to do the sale I wanted to do. I talked to the promoter and she said one sale, they had 18 bowladies sign up!! She also said that bows really didn't sell that great at thier sales. This will give me time to get ready for the sale I usually do (just consign, not bows). I've ordered some UB ribbon so I'll see if I like it. If so, I'll be making a decent profit, even after the split.

Do you take your own display to the consignment sale? I go to one here twice a year and they have some used bows thrown in a basket. I want to convince them to let me sell and have a decent display that won't take up too much room and cause them any additional work. Any suggestions?
