Has anyone sold there goodies at there own yard sale? We're planning on having one and I'm trying to determine whether it would be a good idea to print out some cards to put some bows on and try to sell them. I'm not looking to make a whole lot... my fabric button hair pin is in my etsy store for $5 (it costs about $1 each to make) but I'd settle for less since they take less than 15 minutes to create.

Anyone had any success selling there bows at a yard sale? If nothing, maybe it'll give me an opportunity to introduce people to my business and store.

I have sold at a garage sell before. I think I sold one bow. I would makeup a few (maybe 5-10) things and put them out with your cards. I think it is better to try than to not!! Good Luck!! LEt us know what you decide and how youdo!

I have gone to garage sales and the person had their handcrafted items there. I guess it all depends on the pricing. Maybe you could match some clothes with a few bows- like they do at the consignment stores!

I am going to try at the neighborhood garage sale that runs on the first weekend of May. If anything, it lets your neighbors know what you are doing and maybe they will check out your website, or call you for bows.

I am going to try to make it separate so that the "salers" realize this isn't a nickle and dime type product. Garage salers in west michigan are hard core. If you have something listed for a dime, they will ask if you will take a nickle. It is just like, "come on!" pay the freakin' dime. We are notoriously cheap around here.

i haven't had a yard sale yet but then again i just started to sale bows but before i even made bows i went to a few where she was selling her bows and dind't have them displayed or anything, there were just tons of bows in baskets, you just looked thru them and got what you wanted, she did tell us that she made them and sold them at a local bakery but that was it, she wasn't giving out cards or her number or anything like that, now that i look back on it and i am doing this now i think well she didn't put much effort into it kwim.. so i say go ahead, do cards and what not, you never know how many more potential customers you may have, it won't hurt anything

Just be prepared for people saying.. "how much.. phssh"

Keep in mind they are looking for huge steals. And a normal priced item isn't on their mind.

I'd say it's worth it to put it out there on the off chance-the only thing it could hurt is your feelings!

If your ubber-sensitive. I'd say opt out.

I'm in texas, maybe garage sales differ in different parts of the country.

I've had 2 neighborhood garage sales last year and both times I SOLD OUT of my bows the first day and had to spend that night making up more for the next day!!! I'm doing another one in May, I can't wait!! The least they are gonna say is "no thanks" and you can still pass along your business card for a potential future customer!

I think I'll price them kinda low so I can buy so many of the things I need with the little profit I'll get. I am a big sewer and have a HUGE hoard of fabric and sewing stuff.... so hubby isn't exactly thrilled at the idea of me stocking up on supplies for a new hobby... kwim? Plus... hubby has no idea how much this stuff costs or how much time it takes so for all he knows I could be making a killing lol.

We live off a busy road and we're in a pretty nice area so I'm hoping some of the neighbors will wander over. I always went to my neighbors yard sales because it's like peeking into there life.

I have been to a few yard sales that had different homemade crafts at them. I don't know how well they have sold. But they always had a small display set up, so there was no confusion that's what was been sold, I mean not like just a basket full of bows and oh by they way I made those. I would what would it hurt?

Let us know how you do if you decide to sell some bows. My neighborhood will be having one in June. I am considering setting up with my bows but am afraid people will not be willing to pay what they are worth. I know that when I go to a yard sale, I am looking for something priced super cheap. I do not want to price my bows under what I would normally sell them for. If I would get a repeat customer, they would expect that price all the time. So, I'm not sure if it would be worth my time.
