Default craft shows that ask for a percentage of sales!!

Has anyone done a show where you have a booth fee and then they want, say, 10% of your sales? I'm looking at doing one and it's $150 and 10% of sales. To me, it's an obscene amount, but I would like to get ya'lls input on it and if you've done one of those. Thanks!!!

How big is this show? Goodness you'd think the $150 was enough for them... Do people pay you and they go by the honor system?? OR do they pay a central person? How will they know how much you make??

I was wondering the same thing. How could they possibly know how much you make? That was another question I'd have is say you make $2000... would you really hand over $200 more to them? YIKES!

The show is pretty big and only hand made arts and crafts. Apparently people come from all over to visit this show.

I'm doing on next week...$170 plus 15% of sales(3 day huge fair). The good part is that the fair is run as a huge fundraiser for children's charities in Delaware, so the 15% goes directly to charity, so I guess I can write a portion off
We have to use their receipts too...

I've done other events like this but never a craft show. I've done as much as 20% and it was still worth my effort but I didn't have to work the show. I just put my things there and they sold for me and just sent a check.

I just did one in Orlando the other weekend. It was only $80 for the space though and then 10% of sales to be donated to the park it was held at. They used the honor system and gave you a sheet you filled out each night and turned in before you left. It was a pretty big craft show though and had a lot of traffic

i do one every year and it is only $25 and 10%. it is on the honor system. it is two days. $150 and 10% is a little steep for me unless it is a ginormous show with massive amounts of people.

I think it can be worth it...
Alot of show that charge a huge table fee make their money (a good portion of it) whether people show up or not..
At least at those shows you know they are interested in advertising to get the traffic and hopefully will promote you to get the sales too!

and you can write off the charity ones....

10% really isnt that much...but the $150 booth fee should be enough for them you'd think haha...Im not sure I would do it after already paying the $150.

ooops....just saw that...To me $150 is a bit steep unless it's high traffic..
