I am a slacker in terms of pics. I took the camera and, somehow (of course) the card was full. We never cleared the card, so I didn't get any pics. Anyhow....

I am very proud to say that we made the 10 o'clock news! I wish I could show you a snippet of it, but here's a link to the blurb on their website...

From Our Family to Yours

BTW, the bows they mention are MY bows! YAY! I sold a ton of bows, but I didn't get to really network it, because I was too busy running the whole sale. One thing I did do that helped me sell more bows was that I did a "Buy 4, get 1 free". I had many moms who would buy 3 bows (I guess 3 is a comfy number or something?) and I could say... "You know if you pick 1 more bow, you get 1 free?". EVERY one of them would buy another bow!

I sold a ton of little toddler-sized tuxedo bows, in matched pairs. It was small and understated. I had moms call other moms from the sale and say "Oh my goodness! This lady has a ton of bows! You have to come over here.". I'd have others come in and say that they heard there was a "bow lady" there. It was cool.

I didn't take the time to make any elaborate bows. All my bows were simple because, honestly, I didn't have the time to make wonderful boutique bows. You know?

Oh- I sold a ton of loopy bows with a few korkers tucked in. They were in wild colors, too. Pink, yellow, green. The moms bought tons of them! I really need to figure out how to do loopy bows on gator clips. Inevitably, some mom would want that. I even had one mom who said her husband could weld so she was going to have him snip the French barrette and weld it to a gator. LOL. Only in redneck Texas....

I forget what else. I'm sure more will come to me.

Congratulations on your sale & thanks for posting - very informative & I can't believe everything is barcoded! My children's preschool is considering doing a children's consignment sale as a fundraiser along similar lines (I suggested it - I had shopped a sale similar to yours where I previously lived a few years ago). If we do it, I'm thinking of making bows for the sale... I've been thinking about how to package/display them so they can be seen but won't get damaged. I make bows and clippies for a local boutique on a small scale and put them on cards which are kept in a basket at the checkout of the store... but that seems not protective enough for a larger scale sale. Any advice?

Thanks so much,

MichelleB

P.S. I've bookmarked your site and may copy your rules & regulations

Wow! You were busy! That sounds like you were a hit! Great that you got on TV too. That's pretty good advertising if you ask me!!! Congrats!

Awesome job! I love consignment sales. I usually sell my DD's things, actually just the outfits I ended up not liking on her, or she just never wore (seems like she wears the same things over and over again!). I don't sell the stuff I love b/c I have another DD that will wear them - their birthdays are only 11 days apart (and 3 years).

Anyway, I sold all my "leftovers" or bows that didn't sell at my show(s) there. I tried to pair it with an outfit and then bumped the price up a little more. People loved that there were getting an outfit AND a bow to match it, I sold every single one of those outfits! The other bows I packaged in sets and those all sold, too.

And ladies, these were NOT good bows (I did NOT advertise who they were from!) . I started making bows just a year ago and these were all actual bows (like how you tie your shoe) just glued to a lined alligator clip. But people snatched them up! (To tell the truth, I sold a bunch of these at a couple of shows just prior to the consignment sale, and the moms snatched them up then as well! I'm doing the same sale this coming weekend and my bows are much improved, mostly twisted boutique bows, we'll see how sales compare to last year!)

Thanks, y'all. We are freakin' exhausted. I ended up having to take some tylenol last night. My body was spent. You know? if I did this all the time, it could be a workout plan. LOL

The link to the blurb about my sale....the video is actually there. It's on the right hand side of the screen and shows a blue screen with "KBTX.com ALWAYS ON". Click play and we'll be in there.... It's a ways into the clip (maybe 2-3 minutes into it, I don't know). But...you can see my sale! You can also see a little of my bows! Oh, and you can see my elbow. Hey! I'm famous. LOL

Heather- If you are intersted, my website will tell you are the "rules". it's www.mybcsfamily.com . Everything is indoors, in a/c, clean, organized, etc. I do all the advertising, provide the space, have racks and tables, etc. All you have to do is organize, price, and drop off your items. Easy stuff! (well, time consuming for sure)

Another camera crew filmed for commercials too! I think my kids should be in those.

Is that a long enough post?
