~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I see everyone calls them Craft Shows...however...all I've been able to find in my area is Holiday Bazaars. I did my first 4 over the past couple of weeks. I made about $150.00 at the first one, $120.00 at the second one, $200.00
at the third one, and only $55.00 at the last one . I just was wondering come January..what do I look for? Since it's no longer the holidays, and there will be no more Bazaars........... I can't do any of the big shows since I don't have a UBI#. Do many of you have UBI #'s? Is it worth it for me to get one? Also how do a find small craft fairs after the holidays?!? .Thanks ya'll........ |
[quote=creativesidebows;232032]what is a ubi#?
Here in the state of Washington a UBI# is a business license #.... A lot of the applications I downloaded for shows in my area require a business license #. |
We never have holiday bazaars. I've heard of that wording but certainly not around here. There are certainly alot of craft shows during Christmas season but there are also alot in the spring. I just look online for craft shows in my state and also ask around at the crafters near me at all the craft shows.
[quote=bellasbow-tique;232034]that is what I thought it was. I have a business license/tax id # and it allows me to buy from certain places that sell wholesale but only if you have those #'s. I've never run into a show that required the #. Maybe it's a Washington thing???
Get your sales tax number. It's easy! It will open doors for you.
Most shows here require me to put my number down. The reason is that I'd have to report my sales tax earnings any pay appropriately. The state wants their cut! If it were me, I would stay home during Jan and Feb. Those are slow, slow months! It you are only doing a couple hundred during the holiday season, it will be dead, dead, dead in Jan/Feb.
Jan and Feb are really reboot months... March spring is in the air and the first spring shows/festivals/fairs start... It seems no mater where or what you sell April can be iffy cause of tax time... then May June come along and its the start of summer....Im in Missouri and its humid as HELL in the summer **groan** YUCK so I wont do a summer show unless its inside and has AC... considering doing a july 4th thing thats 4 days and it scares the crap outta me (but it really depends what our economy does... )Plus summer things ppl tend to EAT more than buy
...then back to school time starts then its fall and winter fairs to go...signup for craftlister , youll find lots of shows that accept vendors thru them... pay the small memeber fee and you can get the dates Farther out in the year... alot of bigger shows you sign up for 6 months in Advance and get your taxId.... ohhh wait a min...WA doesnt have sales tax does it? that must be why they want a biz license...hummmpf call around to your dept of revenue and see what you need to do.
