other bow makers coming to your table and looking at your ideas.

Even though my craft show was a bust, 2 of the bow makers came to my tables and checked everything out. Neither one had done the lined clips and was like OHHHH thats a good idea. And asked me how to make the woven headbands! I know I am being selfish but I just felt like they were stealing from me I also know that I am not the owner or originator of the ideas but I still felt that way. To one more than the other. One I know (she is my step sisters mom) she came over while I was packing and started digging in my bins. I was polite but kept packing and movig it. We have never really gotten along so that just made it worse.

I know what you mean, but then again, if there are handmade bows somewhere, I definately go check them out. Not to get ideas, but to check out the compitition. But here is Utah where EVERYONE makes EVERYTHING themselves, I've had to get over all the camments and people picking at my things trying to figure out how I do it. I just say let them go make their own, it's not nearly as easy as it looks.

I true bow maker at a show will introduce them self but not ask how you made something. I think that is just RUDE.

I completely agree with you. I had customers at our show looking at things and you can just tell when they are trying to figure out how you made it. This one lady said she made her daughters hairbows ( I don't do bows) and love dthe alligator clips and asked me where I buy them. I was thinking" are you kidding me?" This is my business, you can go and figure it our just like I did. I simply told her online. I think it is rude and people are being selfish that ask.. this is you way to make money and you put a lot of hours and creativity into your work.. you don't need someone taking that from you. So... don't feel bad.

My standard response when anyone asks me how to make a bow, clip, headband, etc., is: "I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you." I then give a little laugh to make it seem like I'm joking, but I'm really not.

Thank you for the responses ladies. I feel better knowing Im not the only one that feels that way.

I do not mind anyone looking at my things its when they start wanting me to explain to them how I do it is when I get upset. One lady did ask me where I get my ribbon and I just said online. The only info I did give her was the website hosting company I use because I know how it feels to pay someone to set up a site for you then disappear and never finish it or have it right. (it wasnt my step sisters mom though, I wouldnt have told her LOL)
