How many bows in a gift basket?

My hubby and I are at odds on this one...need your opinions...

I am putting together some gift baskets for a silent auction at my son's school. Here's where the bickering starts...

I was envisioning 2 "WOW" baskets with about 10 clips/bows each, for a total of 20 clips/bows. In my mind, people would see the baskets and think "WOW! That's amazing work!"

My hubby thinks I should do 4 or 5 smaller baskets with about 4 or 5 bows each. His thought process led him to more baskets = more free advertising. My fear is that the people will walk around those 4 or 5 baskets and think "doesn't this woman have anything else to do?"

Ya'll are smart, talented women...for goodness sake help me end this war!

I would do the 4 or 5 baskets... potentially more customers... also more potential $$$ for the school... do them in different themes... Pink, purple, flowers & bugs, americana, christmas, ect... be sure your card is clipped in there too

here's my thoughts......

I would do what you are thinking- the two WOW baskets. Make sure to put some business cards in those baskets, and also lay some business cards on the table in front of the item. People who don't wish to make such a large purchase at once can take your card and get in touch with you.

A larger basket will bring more money. If you have a few small ones, they will likely bring less money (unless you have several) and people might be more inclined to sorta skip over looking at some of them.

When you put a bunch in one, people like to look at all of the different stuff in that single basket, and they are like "oh I didn't see that one" and you get lots of ooohhhs and ahhhs etc etc.... KWIM? And when a few people have to spend a little more time looking at one item, that generates a "crowd" and more people come over to see what the fuss is all about

But that's just my opinion, from an experience doing this same thing for a MOD auction.

i too say 4 or 5, more advertising, more potential customers and no i don't think people will say you don't have anything better to do LOL.. Don't worry bout it, i say go with more than 2 baskets.

When I do baskets (which by the way I've limited to 2 per year-once you start you will get asked from every organization out there ) I do major wow baskets. Like 30 bows, 5 headbands and a pile of clips.

I just finished up my second donation in the last 2 weeks - first auction I donated 2 bow boards w/ clips and headbands and a beanie w/ a flower on one - one board was valued at $55 and the other one for $60. The second auction is for a bow holder w. clips and bows valued at $60. I may add another donation w/ another beanie and a few flowers and a headband. Both of these auctions are for prechools - excellent advertising oportunities - esp. w/ the second auction as it is an online auction that goes out to hundreds of families.

I would do two WOW baskets, I think it would get more attention and the smaller ones might get over looked.

wow! this is really split. i have to go with 2 WOW baskets. people will really want to win!

if you really want to, you can always give 5 single bows to the board.

i'm on the dinner committee at my school and when we have a donation that is kind of small, we sometimes put together items from more than one source.

Why not do 1 WOW basket AND a couple smaller ones. There will probably be shoppers that would split this opinion just as this board has. Plus it would give you the opportunity to show the versatility of both you and your work!
