Default ? about tent set up...

Ladies
What do you use to hold down your tent? I'm doing my 1st show this weekend and I need to bring something to hold down my tent in case there is a lot of wind, fire marshal will be checking for this...
My dad was telling me to make sand bags...
Thank you!

I have never done anything to hold my tent down...but I think sand bags would be the best option because most places will not allow you to use stakes to hold it down..good luck!

Well let me tell you I had an experience from hell. lol it's good the fire marshal is making you do it! The weather was super windy and I brought some weights and put them on there thinking yeah they'll hold. Nope! My tent went flying and knocked over my tables!! it was horrible! Several men stopped the tent from going down the road but it was ruined! Thank goodness it didn't hit anyone else! So since then I am a freak about my tent being strapped down. Last show I did was windy and I was a nervous wreck the whole time. Even though I had stakes, sand bags and the grid walls holding it down, I was still a mess. Buy sand bags somewhere like Academy and fill them up. I would recommend using stakes too. Do you have grid walls? Those really help!

Thank you ladies!
Yes I think is a good idea you never know with this weather now days...
I won't have grid walls (don't have any as this will be my 1st show). I will have 2 tables and bow boards.

I do have weights that I can bring but were can you get sand bags? I live in No. Cali...

I would use the weights for your bow boards. Mine kept fying off when I had them. I got the sand at Home Depot. Lowe's has them too. Walmart may even carry sand. The same kind you use for the sand boxes for kids.

We use 5 gallon buckets that we fill with sand and THEN poor water in. We mean business. I can't carry the buckets though, that's the hubster's department.

I'm in Oklahoma... You know where the WIND comes SWEEPING down the plains! Well that saying ain't no lie! We use weights, stakes, sand, gridwall, trees, I've even tied off to a concrete pole. It is scary when the wind blows and everything starts to move. If you think you have enough weight ADD some MORE!!

Funny story, we did a show in Rushsprings and we were set up next to a baseball field. Well a freakin helicopter decided to land in the field No joke. The wash from that stupid thing was awful we had to literally hold everything down. We have a BIG set up too. 2 tents, 30 gridwalls, clothes racks, lots of stuff. The lady next to us had 1 tent, not staked down, with baby stuff on tables. Everything blew off including her tent. It was a really bad afternoon!

I just recently did my first show and my dad put up my tent, he put some stakes in the ground and some heavy concrete stones. Thank God for my dad because I was clueless as to how to set up the tent. We had a little wind and it blew or knocked down just about everything off my table.
