Reading the comments there seems to be cruelty free feathers, which the birds lose their feathers naturally like Ronnie talked about.

LOL~! This is true... My grandpa used to have a chicken farm too and my dad ran that farm. He always warned us not to talk too loud or run around or we will scare the chicken. He also said not to wear red.... can't remember why though...

Something about it aggrivating the rooster. I think it is an old wives tale though. We were told the same thing when we would go to my dad's ranch as he has bulls.

I think that it is cruel if that is how the do the chickens. But there is also a lot of cruel things that happen to animals for all kinds of things. We just raise and kill minks for fur. And we kill all kinds of animals for items to be made. I don't agree with the feathers being plucked off of live animals but I know in the tackle shop he told me that most places do not do that and that there are bad apples in every bunch.

We were always taught if you kill it you eat it. Unless it poses a threat to you, your family or your herd/livestock. (bobcats, wild dogs, mountain lions, hogs, Mexican Eagles, venomous snakes)
