I was looking through my oriental trading scrapbooking catalog and was loving all the cute brads they have available. Do any of you use brads as embellishments for your clips? If so, how do you get the brads off in order to use just the "head" of the brad. Or do you maybe stick the brads through the ribbon then add them to the clip?
Thanks!

HI, I haven't actually done this myself so this is not from experience, I actually posted another thread about this topic, it was recommended to coat them with fingernail polish to help prevent rusting, and from other posts I have read you can cut the brads off, i have never read about poking them threw the ribbon! I have used them- just use wire cutters to cut the bottoms off. The paint does chip, so fingernail polish is a must in my book.

I have used them on some of my clippies and used nippers to take the backs off.

Thanks so much for the input. I had never thought about adding nail polish. I will give it a try!

That is what I do! I make a little hole in the ribbon with my woodburner, thread the brads partway through, and dab a little glue between the head and ribbon before pulling it all the way through (the glue keeps it in place, especially if I need it to face a particular direction). On the other side, I cut the brads short enough that they won't be seen past the edges of the ribbon and then bend them flat against the head like they're intended. Then I glue the strip of ribbon around a clippie or around the bow if it's being used as a center like normal.

It's super sturdy and WON'T come off - believe me, I've tried pulling! I can even pull off E600 stuff, so threading the brads through the ribbon so there's extra hold makes me feel better about them being put into little kids' hands.

I use them. I actually use the ones with letters on them for the older girls (tweens and teens) they really like the personalization and it's quick and easy. Like the others said, just clip the brad part off, coat in clear polish and you're good to go.
