Thanks everyone! I cut one piece and I was dreading cutting many more just using scissors and measuring each time.
I can't take all the credit. I am a teacher and use the FOSS science curriculum and that is how they have us cut multiple lengths of string (using cardboard, though). I give them all the credit!

wow!
a true light bulb moment! you can cut lengths of cardboard for different sizes! I'm so using this one, when I get done with the 15 projects I have lined up to finish
