That reminds me of those beads on a plastic template thingee that I had when I was a kid. You ironed and it became a coaster type thing. How's that for vague?

ETA: this is what I meant Perler Bead Keychains scroll all the way down and there is a real photo

It reminds me of those little doodads that you put on pegs and then iron together. I've seen them at Hobby Lobby.
