Default Bow Maker

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Someone posted the idea of making your own bow maker by putting dowels or pencils in floral foam or styrofoam. Has anyone ever tried that? Do you think it would work, or should I just spring for the TOTTS bow maker? The website said that if you buy just the bowmaker there are no instructions. Is it hard to use?
Any feedback would be appreciated!!!
Thanks!
I recently tried putting 2 wooden dowels in the floral foam, but it wasn't sturdy enough...the dowels keep moving around too, so it's not a good deal (I thought it was my original idea, lol) I haven't had the extra $ to spring for TOTTs, so for now....
I did that years ago to make bows for someone's wedding or something. I think I put pencils in styrofoam. It worked ok for the first one, but then they wiggled around too much. I think I ended up buying a bowmaker at Value Village or something.
better off just getting totts.
floral foam is very unstable.
messy when it crumbles too!
I like to use the bow maker for certain types of bows. I like making others by hand without the bow maker. So it just depends on what look you are going for. The bow maker is worth the money.
Is the consensus that TOTTS is best? Are there any other options out there? With instructions, it seems that they are needed.
Thanks!!!
