Default Korkers on the go...

ok ladies, my hubby and I have been brainstorming of a way to bake korkers at a show to do custom orders on the spot. He thought of buying a junk oven and hauling it in, though that would take ALOT of space. As I was making pigs in the blanket in my roster tonight I thought hmmmm wonder how this would work...he said try it

I did and it works SUPER DUPER! I set it to 250 and cooked them for 20 min....its just like the real oven YEAH!
I just thought I would share

I think this is a super crazy and good idea.
Good luck and let us know how it actually goes on site.

That's crazy, but I would so do that to keep the heat down in the kitchen. So did your regular dowels fit? Mine are 18" and wondering if they will fit. Too lazy to run downstairs and pull the roaster out and check. Oh my I just thought of something. DH and I hide out in our bedroom/craft room (you would understand if you lived here) and if this really works, I can still hide out and get korkers done. Now I am excited!!!!!!

Costco has a camping oven for less than $200 that runs off of those little green propane bottles, we have one for camping and in our emergency supplies. They cook very well. I don't think you would be able to get very long dowels in them. Each bottle lasts about 7 hours (well thats what is suppose to).

I use a good ol toaster oven to make mine. Its small so I have to cut my dowels smaller but it lets me make batches of ribbon for a couple here and there. I love that it doesn't heat up my whole kitchen and I can whip some really quick! I use it the same way as a regular oven, 275 for 20-25 min

LOL...I have actually done this! It was when I was making korkers for 3 days straight and had to cook supper at some point and didn't want to stop baking the ribbon My dh & f-i-l both told me to use the roaster and it did work wonderfully!!! Never ever though of using it at a show though! Great idea...thanks a lot!!!!

Now that sounds like it would take all the fun out of it! LOL. I can almost see her with a bonfire and cooking ribbon over an open campfire, s'mores style!
