Default Treating Leather furniture with Olive Oil

I know it sounds weird, and this is one Pinterest Pin that I was really skeptical about trying, but my chair just looked horrible from where the dogs are always, and I mean always laying in it. I started with a small area, then got braver and did more. The chair has not looked this good in years.

ummmm . . . hate to burst your bubble . . . but olive/canola/etc. oil . . . will turn rancid.

best to use mineral oil . . . & this goes for cutting boards as well!

yup, i learned the hard way w/one of my cutting boards

no problem . . . one coat is probably fine, but several coats/repeated oiling of a cutting board is yuck.

mineral oil is soo thick . . . i was thinking of trying to mix it w/some murphy's oil soap cleaner that now comes diluted/in a spray bottle.

at least it'll smell nice!

the leather cleaners are crap - imo - and a homemade solution may be the way to go!

haha - may ask some horse folks who clean their leather saddles what they use . . .
