Default heat n bond? what did I do wrong?

Hi all. I just completed an order of 61 cheer bows for a summer camp here. This is the first time I made ones using the spandex fabric. Everything was going fine until I started folding them and sewing the centers. The layers started coming apart. I'm not sure what went wrong. I've used heat n bond a million times before and never seemed to have this problem before. Any ideas? Not enough heat? Too much?

What type of Heat N Bond did you use? Was it the Lite or the Ultra Bond?

So cute! What is the pinkish material and where did you get it? Beautiful color!

Hope you find an answer from one of these more experienced ladies.

It could be either too much heat or not enough...if you over heat it (temp wise or for too long) the adhesive literally dissolves. If you under heat it (temp or time wise) it won't adhere permanently. Look at the back of the fabric, if you can't see the adhesive anymore the over heat is most likely.

Thanks,
The material I bought from spandex world.
I used ultra, I usually use lite but thats all walmart had at the time.
I can see the heat and bond on the layers...some it is even peeling off in between the layers. I did follow the instructions on the package but I am thinking I never had it hot enough.
Thanks for all your answers

I agree with you. If you are using the Ultra, it requires more heat and time than the regular. I hope you did not bow them yet. You can repress. I hope that fixes it. Good luck
