Default Cheer Bow Folding Technique

I have been making cheer bows for five or six years now. The method I use hasn't changed much. I am an "old school" folder who began with the No Bow No Go tutorial. Here's the thing, I have never been entirely happy with the look of the bow's loops. I tried adding 2" of ribbon to the ribbon length and making my loops and inch larger and while I like the look, I guess I am just not "Wowed" by it.

I am looking for that really puffy look to the loops and mine seem to be flat looking. Attached are samples of my work (orange = 28" ribbon length, blue = 30" ribbon length). Looking for some suggestions if there are any!

Thanks bunches!

Ann

I make mine the same way you do-except-I get a handful of toilet paper or paper towels and I roll them up and stuff them in the loops. Then I spray the bow with super starch and let it sit for a few hours till dry. It has worked for me and keeps the loops full looking. If you don't like it after a few hours, respray and let it sit longer.

Can you post a picture of how you'd like them to look? I think yours look great! For the orange one, it looks like maybe your loops would need to be bigger if you wanted them to fluff out more? Do you still use the NBNG templetes? Just curious what size your using (or if you're free handing, what size are the loops?)

I like the blue one. I think it looks more proportionate.

Thanks Pia! That is using my new method of folding. Hoping it sits better too. Guess we'll find out in August.

Your bows look amazing! Congrats on your success!

It's not how they look when I fold, it's how they look once in the hair. I still fold freehand vs. template. When I said "old school", I meant it! LOL
